Catching Up

and by that, I mean Molly's head is finally catching up with her body....

Doctor's appt yesterday.
weight: 17.3lbs (75th percentile)
height: 25 1/2" (50th percentile)
head circumference: 17" (75th percentile)

Doctor: So about this time, she might start getting some teeth.
Me: Um, check. She has two.
Doctor: And she's really going to start being interested in crawling.
Me: Um, check.
Doctor: And in a couple of months, she'll probably start pulling herself up on things.
Me: As of yesterday, CHECK.
Doctor: Oh my.

(I'm trying a little something with sound, so please make sure your volume is ON)

James Turns 3.... AGAIN

It's like a surprise birthday party that never ends. Our neighbors, Peter & Pilar gave James a frog, a tadpole and a habitat for them to live in back in June. For some reason, the frog and tadpole didn't arrive until this week. Surprise!

The frog needs a small mountain of rocks to rest on - surprise!
The tadpole needs fish food - surprise!
The tadpole will eat the frog if he gets too big - surprise!

We made the rookie mistake of letting James name the frog and tadpole. Here's how that went:
Us: What do you want to name the frog and tadpole?
James: Hmmmmm. Cozy and Wolksy.
Us (immediately realizing our error): Hmmmm. Don't you think Teddy is a good name for a tadpole?
James: Yeah.
Us: And how about Freddy for the frog?
James. OK.
(5 minutes later)
Us: So, what is the name of the tadpole?
James: Cozy. And the frog is Wolksy.

Here we are releasing Cozy and Wolksy into their new habitat:

James thinks Cozy & Wolksy like to hear music.
Here he is serenading them with neighbor Peter:

Just an update because I know you care: today Cozy grew two arms!
Must have been the music.

Mae Date

James' friend Mae (and her parents) came over for dinner last weekend. Mae is great great great and the two play very well together. They are both BIG talkers and often have conversations like this:

Mae: James, I have to tell you something.
James: What would you like to tell me Mae?
Mae: James, I have to tell you that I like penguins.
James: Mae, I like penguins too!

Seriously, that's how they talk. It's aaaaaadorable.

Anyhoo, towards the end of the evening, I asked James to put his arm around Mae so I could take their picture and this is him trying to figure it out:

Kind of getting it, but also looking kind of creepy:

You know James loves a girl who can wield a hammer in one hand and eat a brownie with the other.

You Are My Sunshine

I don't know why I started it, but every day before Molly goes down for a nap or for the night, I sing, "You Are My Sunshine" in a calm soothing tone - sending her off to sleep in the most peaceful way possible. A while back, James wanted to get in on the act and since I am willing to foster sibling love in any way possible, I let him.

Here's James singing "You Are My Sunshine" in the only calm soothing tone he knows:

And here is how tired that little "lullaby" makes her:

Whatever it takes, people. Whatever it takes.

Molly 7 Months Today!

Molly 7 months:

Crawls like a dolphin.
Eats like a pig.
Sleeps like a bear hibernating in winter.

LOVE this baby!

Speaking of overkill....

...and I quote from the American Academy of Pediatrics' Caring For Your Young Baby and Child, "At each of his three daily meals, your six month old baby should be eating about 4 ounces of strained baby food."

Molly's dinner tonight:

EACH of those containers holds "4 ounces of strained baby food."

We just don't like to do things halfway around here....
